Leo Kantor-Violin of oblivion
News
Tuesday, 04 August 2009 00:00
For wise men to remember, for unaware to learn, for politicians as a warning. This was the motto of Leo Kantor’s unusual show – ‘To Leave With Violin’.
His theatre is a documentary one. In the show he uses authentic reminders and photographs. The scenography consists of a small table with a laptop to present photographs, and a chair with the violin on them. It’s an original Olo Spiro’s instrument who played them since he was 7 years old. It survived the war, exile and served him to the end of his life. It was used in Warsaw, Białystok, in a camp barrack, and in Stockholm. It is the testimony of its time and death it saw.

Vistula changes its course
News
Tuesday, 04 August 2009 00:00
Paradoxically, the Vistula divides and joins Janowiec and Kazimierz. Physically it divides the two towns, but at the same time its current allows to move quickly from one town to the other. On the way to the Baltic Sea it gathers and passes a lot of information. For a short time it changed its current to connect us with the north and convey the news from across the Bug River.
Cinema holds the reins at the two sides of Vistula and the Bug river reigns in Brama Gallery. It’s all thanks to Stanisław Baj, the professor at the Faculty of Painting in Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He was born in the Bug area so it’s not a surprise that he has such a personal attitude to the river. In his works he presents different faces of his dear Bug. He considers Bug as nature’s most important circulation of life.
The exhibition will be held for the next two weeks
