They’ve already seen more than 20 short films and it’s just the third day of the Festival. A lot more is waiting for them. Today we present two of the Independent Juries..

Magda Sarnecka, 30, works in an organization helping the disabled. She has visited the festival in Kazimierz since its beginning. But only this year has she joined the Independent Juries team. For her, a good film is one you can’t forget after a week, one which has a meaning, carries some message. Good music and fine acting are also important elements. If it’s a documentary film, then the latter isn’t that important- she laughs. What captivates her in short films is their similarity to the novel of manners. She would like to see the best festival shorts on the big screen or on TV.

Maciek Sarnecki, 32, an IT engineer. He learned about the festival from his wife and agreed to come to Kazimierz straight away. For him, the most important element of a film is a well-told and interesting story. It’s good if there’s a message conveyed in it but a film which tells an interesting story in an unattractive way is not a success- he emphasizes. Visual and sound effects influence our perception, but they are just small elements in a full-length movie. It’s different in shorts where every detail counts… but still they have to be told in an attractive way. South American cinema fascinates Maciek, thus he is waiting to see the screenings of Bruno Baretto’s film.
