Chekhov in his plays doesn’t develop dramatic action, he doesn’t build up traditional intrigue. Despite this fact, he’s able to extract from inconspicuous fates of his characters true tragedy of the human existence. "Three Sisters" directed by Aleksander Bardini fulfill all of author’s theatrical demands. It is a story of a life slipping away, of unfulfilled hopes and crippled natures, of the world where one pays with kingdom not for a horse but for a cup of tea. In his staging, director sticks to Chekhov. He didn’t make any fanciful changes or shortenings of the original text. He put on psychological truth and shows people’s dramas without too much theatricalisation and empty gestures.
